Insurance
I currently accept Aetna health insurance. For all other insurances, you may have out-of-network benefits, which means that insurance will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost after you meet your calendar-year deductible. During our intake process, I can help you understand more about your out-of-network benefits and how to determine what your co-insurance — the amount you pay less the reimbursed amount from your insurance — would be.
If you want to know your benefits before reaching out, I recommend asking your insurance provider the following questions:
Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits (procedure code is ‘90837’ for psychotherapy, modifier ’95’ for online therapy)?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
Couples & Insurance
I treat the couple as my patient/client. As such, there is no way to bill insurance because that would require identifying one partner as the patient and giving that individual a mental health diagnosis. When a provider uses the 90847 CPT code, they are saying that YOU are the identified patient and your partner is joining your session to provide insight that will help your therapy. That can be done in theory if you and I are working together individually, but that format is not what I would EVER believe successful couples therapy and a healthy relationship to be. And, technically it is a form of insurance fraud.
Payment
Credit card is the primary form of payment accepted in my practice. If you would like to discuss alternate forms of payment, please don’t hesitate to bring this up in our initial phone consult.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a session, it is required you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, I do have to charge the full rate of the session.
